Zhu Ye Qi Black Tea is grown in Gu Zhang County in the Hunan Province of China. It is grown at an elevation of about 2,000 feet in the Wuling Mountain Region and benefits from a temperate climate and abundant rainfall. Zhu Ye Qi is the cultivar of the tea plant Camellia sinensis var sinensis that is used to produce this tea. The small curly leaves are crafted using a rolling style that is similar to that used to make Bi Luo Chun green tea.
The leaves yield a medium- to full-bodied infusion that is rich and very smooth with sweet, cacao, mildly earthy, and sweet grain notes. This tea is very forgiving to brew.
