Yerba Maté is an invigorating herbal tisane from Argentina. This is the green, unroasted form of the herb. It is consumed at the start of each day to "get going" and is also consumed in social settings. Traditionally, maté is sipped out of a cuia (maté gourd) using a bombilla (metal drinking straw). In social settings, one cuia is passed around and each person uses his/her own bombilla.
Yerba maté leaves create a strong, herbaceous infusion that is rich in vitamins and minerals.
Note: Yerba Maté contains mateine, which has similar stimulating properties as caffeine.
