Imperial Gold Needle Black Tea is from Ning’Er County north of the city of Pu’er in the land-locked Yunnan Province located in southwestern China near the Himalayan Mountains. Yunnan black teas are grown in a mild climate and are produced from the local large leaf Dayeh cultivar, which is classified under the Camellia sinensis assamica variety of tea plant. This pure bud pluck is grown at an elevation between 2,000 and 3,000 feet and is among the higher grades of Yunnan black teas. The buds turn a beautiful gold after their delicate processing.
The buds yield a viscous and coating, medium- to full-bodied infusion with rich, sweet, and savory aromas and notes of fruit, cacao, malt, and earth.
