Khongea Estate FTGFOP is a full leaf black tea with lots of golden tips from the Assam Region of India. This estate was established in the late 1800’s by two English women and is located at an elevation about 300 feet. The teas from this garden are crafted using leaves harvested from the Camellia sinensis sinensis variety of the tea plant, instead of the typical Camellia sinensis assamica, and this tea is crafted from the P126 cultivar. As a result, the teas from this garden tend to be slightly milder and slightly less full-bodied than the typical characteristics of Assam black teas.
Leaves yield a golden amber infusion that is full-bodied, smooth and complex, with the rich, sweet and malty notes typical of Assam teas rounded out with a surprising delicate spiciness.
