Bao Zhong Formosa is a wulong tea from Taipei County in the northernmost part of the island of Taiwan. It is grown at an elevation about 2,600 feet and is produced from the Qing Xin cultivar. This is the lightest oxidized of all the wulong teas (around 12%) and is sometimes incorrectly classified as a green tea by some purveyors. Bao zhong translates as “wrapped kind”, referring to the original packaging method of wrapping the leaves in folded paper to be sold.
The large, twisted leaves yield a smooth, delicate, clean, light-bodied, viscous infusion with sweet, floral, and fresh notes.
Leaves may be infused multiple times.
