Arakai Estate Pan-Roasted is a black tea from this award-winning, small, family-run garden. The garden is located on the east coast of Australia, northwest of Brisbane. It is surrounded by the Bellthorpe National Park at an elevation of 1,900 feet. Volcanic soil, subtropical climate and abundant rainfall provide ideal conditions for growing premium quality artisanal tea. Several Japanese green tea cultivars of Camellia sinensis sinensis were planted in 2011. Leaves are harvested every four to five weeks from April through September to produce both artisanal black and green teas. The small-batch production using Taiwanese methods takes three days from harvesting the leaves to the finished product.
This very limited production black tea is pan roasted by hand and yields a medium-bodied, smooth, mellow and rich infusion with sweet, earthy, and savory notes and a subtle spicy finish.
