Khongea Estate Autumn is an experimental, limited production, autumn-harvested wulong tea that the estate first produced within the past fifteen years. Located in the Assam Region of India, this estate was established in the late 1800’s by two English women and is situated at an elevation about 300 feet. The teas from this garden are crafted using leaves harvested from the Camellia sinensis sinensis variety of the tea plant, instead of the typical Camellia sinensis assamica.
The large leaves are oxidized about 50% and then well-twisted into strip-style. The leaves unfurl to yield a medium-bodied infusion that is balanced and clean with notes of plums, malt and a subtle spice.
